Hi, I am a bit confused with the solution of question 8491. The question as in the website is:

A lane closure who has priority:

a) The Blue Car
b) The Red Car

According to the website, the Red car has priority because is going straight.

But there is a similar question, on 8284 where there is also a lane closure on the left lane but in this case the correct answer according to the book is that the blue car (also the one driving on the lane that is closing) is allowed to overtake.

Could you please clarify the rules with lane closures? Thank you!

It really has priority because the blue car is doing a manoeuvre (changing lanes) and must yield

But there is a similar question, on 8284 where there is also a lane closure on the left lane but in this case the correct answer according to the book is that the blue car (also the one driving on the lane that is closing) is allowed to overtake.

The blue car is already ahead
As it's overtaking, it's likely going a bit faster as well ...

If it can merge into the right lane without obstructing the red car, it can overtake
