Using a bus lane when turning right

Bericht door Jacob »

In practice exam question 21780, we are told that a driver "MAY position himself on the bus lane" in the last meters before turning right .

But in question 19780 we are told that the driver "MUST" do this in a bus lane.

I do not see any difference in the bus lanes in the two photographs shown. They are both on the right side of the road and are separated from the driving lanes by a white dotted line. In both questions "MUST" and "MAY" are both given as options to answer. But in each question, we are told a different one is the correct answer.

21780 ("B. You may position yourself in the bus lane" is the correct answer)

19280 ("C. Here you must do it" is the correct answer)

A question that has already been modified several times on the advice of instructors. One version is: you may do so. There is no obligation. The other version is: You must, because if a driver wants to turn right, he must position himself as far to the right as possible. Perhaps Bert knows if any case law has been published regarding this.
