Hi everyone,
I have a question. In my book chapter 5, mentions the Express road. This book is the 9th edition, from 20th of October 2020. Recently, my friend bought the same book, but another edition (not exactly sure which one). In her book, the express road is referred as the Highway. Can please someone explain which is the correct term and how is it referred in the exam?
Thanks a lot.
Highway or Express road
Re: Highway or Express road
There is no "expresweg" in Dutch nor anything similar in French, in our highway code ...
F5
is the autoSNELweg or Autoroute - that's the highway or motorway
However, the term "autoweg" can easily but wrongly be translated into highway - but it isn't one
F9
The French terminology is far more appropriate: "Route pour automobiles" , as it is a road reserved for auto(mobile)s
******
The shape of and image on the sign, is more akin to the "reserved roads" category, ie signs F99
Actually, it's the other way around, the more recent F99 signs for "reserved roads" were modelled after the much older sign F9
