Rider and passenger are separated by a big gap
That's less than ideal in case of heavy braking
You could have the passenger slamming into the rider, their helmets violently slamming together, causing the rider to lose control
Problem is, this Honda Deauville as illustrated, and the bigger Gold Wings (and similar) are laid out to be used like this
Especially with a top case , which often includes a backrest for the passenger on these bikes
